AKBAR DELIGHTS
Place Bab Teuh, just inside the medina, is a European-owned little den of shimmery pretty things, mostly Indian, all well-selected and beautifully presented.

Throughout its long history, Marrakesh has been a city of great builders whose Works are still there to be admired: The Koubba Almoravide (12th century), Bab  Agnaou (a splendid 12th century ornamental doorway), the Medersa Ben Yourssef (a 16th century koranic school  famed throughout the Magreb) and the mosque of the same name, the Saadien Tombs (a 16th century royal  necrópolis) the El Badii Palace, and the monumentally  proportioned Echrab ou Chouf and Mouassine fountains and many more other palaces are to be found in the Medina.

JEMAA EL FNA SQUARE
This is the geographical, social and cultural centre of the Medina, for centuries a meeting and trading place for the people from the North and South of this part of Africa.
And today, despite the cultural erosion and change, it is still a rendez-vous point for berber  merchants, travellers and peddlers, reuniting a whole range of traditional trades as public letter writers, fortune tellers, story-tellers, tooth-pullers or herbalists  and entertainers as snake charmers, acrobats, musicians and dancers, fire-eaters and so on…

THE KOUTOUBIA MOSQUE.
Built by the Sultan Abdelmoumen in the 12th Century, the “booksellers” mosque owes its name  to the hundreds of manuscript sellers who set up shop around it upon its foundation. Its architecture and richness of decoration make it one of the masterpieces of Hispano-Moorish art. Its minaret is the elder brother of the Giralda in Seville and the Tour Hassan in Rabat. 69 meters high , it is built from Gueliz limestone ands its external decoration, differinf on each facem is a mixture of floral and graphic ornamentation, interlacing, bands of eathenware tiling and intermingled arcading. Today, we can still see it from far off on the Haouz plain, proudly rearing above the City´s ramparts.
